2008 Silver Proof Set (BUY)

Original Issue Price: $44.95

The 2008 Silver Proof Set once again included fourteen coins. The number of coins had spiraled upwards during the course of the last decade, which experienced the launch of the State Quarters program and the Presidential Dollars program. The price of the sets remained at the same level as the prior year.
Each 2008 Silver Proof Sets contains the five 2008 State Quarters struck in 90% silver. The quarters feature Oklahoma, Arizona, New Mexico, Alaska, and Hawaii. Two more 90% silver coins round out the lot with the Kennedy Half and Roosevelt Dime. Seven coins are included in their standard compositions, the four 2008 Presidential Dollars, Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, and Sacagaewa Dollar.
The US Mint offered a separate 2008 State Quarters Silver Proof Set. This set was priced at $25.95 and contained only the year's 90% silver State Quarters.
The packaging for the 2008 Silver Proof Set was altered once again. Instead of having two separate cardboard boxes contained in a slipcase, all three lenses of the set were placed into a single cardboard box which bore the familiar Statue of Liberty theme used since the beginning of the State Quarters series. The color scheme of the box was red to differentiate from the regular clad set, which was themed in blue.
