2005 US Mint Silver Proof Set
Rotating designs were a prominent feature of the 2005 Silver Proof Set (Buy on eBay). Five different State Quarters were included in the set, which featured designs representing California, Minnesota, Oregon, Kansas, and West Virginia. The second year of the Westward Journey Nickels featured a new obverse design paired with separate reverse designs for the “American Buffalo” and “Ocean in View”.
The full annual set also contained the Sacagawea Dollar, Kennedy Half Dollar, Roosevelt Dime, and Lincoln Cent. The half dollar, quarters, and dime included in each set were stuck in a composition of 90% silver. The aggregate silver content in each set is 1.33823 troy ounces.
Prior to the start of sales for the 2005 Silver Proof Set on June 7, 2005, the US Mint first offered a separate 90% silver proof set containing only the five State Quarters. These sets went on sale February 9, 2005 and were priced at $23.95 each. In total, the US Mint would sell 987,960 of the full annual sets and 608,970 of the five coin sets containing only the quarters.
The packaging for the 2005 Silver Proof Set featured a rendition of the Statue of Liberty and the US Mint’s logo. Inside, the State Quarters were sealed in one plastic lens with the remaining coins in another. Each set included a certificate of authenticity from the US Mint.
